Common Transitional Employment FAQs

  • The position is held by the member for 6-9 months. Once the 6-9 months is done, another member will fill the position.

  • The member would be covered under the same insurance that every other part-time employee would be covered under.

  • No, the TE has to be between the hours of 8am-4pm and cannot be on weekends. This is because that is when the clubhouse is open and staff are able to cover.

  • How much time do you spend with someone before hiring them? Two hours? We spend at least three days a week multiple hours a day with the member that is going to be selected. Because we are training on the job first, we have a great understanding of what the job entails and know which of our members would be a good fit.

  • The TE position will be the most reliably covered position that you will have. We cannot guarantee the reliability of the member that is chosen. However, we can guarantee that the position will always be filled. There will be three people trained on the position. Two staff and a member. If for some reason the member does not show up, one of the staff will cover for the position.

  • No, the person will not need more support than any of your other employees. If anything, the person selected will need less support because they will be trained by our staff and also have our program for assistance if needed.

  • If you like the person and want to keep them that would be amazing! Perhaps they would be a good fit for another job in your organization. However, we ask that you keep the TE open so other members can have a chance to fill the position.
